Betfair to open 100 New Job Opportunities

Betfair, the UK online betting exchange company, has announced that it's currently in the process of opening a new office in Dublin which will create one hundred jobs – focusing mainly on customer service and data center management careers.


Their future workers will be located in the new Dublin data center while giving a few of its English customer operation teams the choice to relocate to Ireland or take on the careers being offered.


The Betfair group of companies is the world’s largest online gambling provider that offers a global portfolio of gambling products and services. This includes the world's leading betting exchange which is provided in the UK. Betfair has already grown into a multi-billion dollar business with an established portfolio of online casino products consisting of poker, casino and games. The company now has in excess of three million registered users with over 50% of all new registrations coming from outside the UK and Ireland.


Betfair already employs 2,000 people around the world and processes five million transactions per day. Proudly, there are over 600 engineers or IT specialists involved in maintaining the firms betting exchanges globally. Following its success on the London Stock Exchange, the company is striving to become the next betting platform for the internet. Betfair's other betting platforms include a bookmaking operation provided from Malta and a second betting exchange in Australia.


Chief Executive David Yu says that since Ireland is already a primary destination for online companies, Betfair is happy to make a significant investment here. He delivered, “Ireland has become a primary destination for world-leading online companies and we are proud to be joining other global technology firms in making a significant investment here.”


Minister of State for Science Conor Lenihan welcomed Yu's announcement and said, “"Ireland is fast becoming a location of choice for many of the world's most advanced internet and digital content companies.”


The news comes just days after the employers' group IBEC said it expects the Irish economy to return to growth next year, adding that it expects unemployment to fall from 13.3 per cent this year to 13 per cent next year.
